Prayer Shawl Ministry
There is a large group of knitters from each church who make prayer shawls and a number of other items for the sick and young. Each item contains the prayers of the knitter and the shawls are dedicated in church where the congregation has the opportunity to add their prayers to the shawl. This ministry brings peace and comfort to a number of people. The group meets monthly on the first Tuesday of the month at 9:00 am in the Centennial Room. The group determines who is to receive shawls and those receiving shawls need not be members of the congregations.
This group meets on Wednesday afternoons at 1:00 pm for fellowship and knitting. They make mitts and scarves and toques which are shipped to First Nation reserves. They also collecxt new clothing for distribution with the knitting.
Every Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm, a euchre league meets and plays a night of cards. There is a small charge for participating and a snack is provided at the end of the evening. This group is open to anyone who is interested in a night of cards and you are welcome to come once, or once in a while or every Wednesday.
Bells of Blessing
We have a complete set of bells and they are used as often as possible. Anyone can be part of the group which meets every Thursday at 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. You don't have to be able to read music but you must be able to count to at least four. The Bells do a few concerts every year and periodically play at a church service as a group. Every Sunday some members lead the congregation in at least one of the hymns.
The choir meets every Thursday at 7:00 pm all are welcome. They lead the congregation in hymn singing on Sundays. They have an anthem every week and conduct two or three services a year. All are welcome.
Meets the fourth Sunday of every month at 7:45 in the morning. The breakfast is rotated between Hampton, Eldad and Kedron United Churches. There is always a speaker or some event and it is usually fairly well attended. All men are welcome and once a year at the May breakfast the ladies are invited to join the group.
Every year on the last Sunday of July the congregations gather at the shelter in Solina Park for an outdoor service which usually includes communion and the service is followed with a pot luck lunch. All are Welcome and the service starts at 10:00 am.
There are a number of other activities at the church but they do not occur at the same time every month so please look at the calendar of events to see when lunches and suppers and special entertainment is planned.
